About the Artist
Savannah Green is a multimedia artist whose practice centers on collage, installation and the interplay between image, memory and environment. Her projects engage audiences directly, inviting them into realms where the personal and collective intermingle. Early work such as the collaging workshop “My Personal Planet” shows her interest in creating visual worlds that reflect identity, imagination and material transformation.
Green’s approach is rooted in process and participation: she often encourages reuse of found materials, visual layering, and tactile engagement. Though her profile remains under the radar compared to major gallery artists, her community-oriented activities and collaging ethos suggest a creative voice attuned to experiential art.
Artistic Practice
In Savannah Green’s work, the act of layering becomes metaphorical: paper, photographs, found objects and installation elements combine into spaces rich with texture, memory and possibility. Her collages are not mere compositions, but ecosystems of signs and materials that reflect how identity accumulates and evolves. The installation works translate this layering into physical environments, where viewers move through fragments and surfaces, inspired to re-imagine their relation to material, time and self.
Her visual language leans toward universal emotion, rather than literal narrative—she creates landscapes of feeling rather than frames of story. The materials she chooses—magazines, paper ephemera, found photographs—speak of daily life, discarded memory and transformation. Through the tactile, she invites the viewer to participate both visually and physically: to step into the collage, feel its edges, sense its rhythm.
Featured Exhibition at iO Arts Center
Resonant Layers
Solo Exhibition
In Resonant Layers, Savannah Green presents a body of new work that transforms the gallery into an immersive collage-field of image, object and space. Visitors will encounter wall-sized installations composed of layered paper, reclaimed prints and sculptural reliefs that spill into floor and ceiling zones. The exhibition explores the idea of accumulation—how experiences, memories, signs and materials gather, layer, and resonate over time.
In one installation, visitors may move through a corridor where layered sheets hang like curtains of memory, printed image melds with found object, and sound subtly underscores the movement of the body through space. Another zone invites participants to interact, adding personal items or paper fragments into a communal collage wall, echoing Green’s earlier participatory work. The exhibition aligns with iO’s mission of art as immersive experience and transformation: it is not simply seen—it is entered, felt, co-created.
Alignment with iO Arts Center Mission
Savannah Green’s practice echoes iO Arts Center’s core commitment to sensory awakening, interdisciplinary creation, and art as lived experience. By inviting viewer interaction, employing found and layered materials, and creating environments of reflection and movement, her work bridges visual art with installation, participation and emotion. Through Resonant Layers, Green offers an arena for self-discovery, communal engagement and material re-imagining—fully aligned with iO’s vision of art as portal, connection and transformation.
Artist Philosophy
“My work is a gathering of fragments—images, memories, discarded papers, voices, time—and their convergence becomes a space where we can ask: What layers define us? What remains in the parts we recycle, discard, forget? In the overlap we find resonance.”
